Brad Perry from Arizona Daily Mix recently visited Crave Protein Cafe to highlight an important community initiative making real change in Phoenix.
During his visit, Brad spoke with Leslie Dille from FMG, a trainer who works with students from the Autism Academy for Education & Development (AAED) in their B.R.I.D.G.E. and internship programs, as well as Ashleigh Baker, an AAED graduate now employed at Crave Protein Cafe. Ashleigh’s insights as both a program graduate and current employee provide an invaluable perspective on the real-world impact of these initiatives.

The Challenge
The autism community faces unemployment rates as high as 40-85%. This gap represents real people with valuable skills who need the right support and opportunities.
The Solution
FMG oversees three interconnected organizations working to address this issue: AAED, Crave Protein Cafe, and The Olive Branch Boutique. Together, they create a comprehensive pathway from education to employment to tackling everyday skills.
Crave Protein Cafe and The Olive Branch Boutique provide real-world job opportunities across different industries, while also helping other organizations overcome hesitations about hiring individuals with autism. AAED’s accredited curriculum and B.R.I.D.G.E. program equip students with both practical employment skills and essential life skills for the transition to adulthood.
Creating Change
This multi-business approach demonstrates that companies can be both successful and socially impactful. By recognizing talent, providing genuine opportunity, and building community partnerships, FMG is helping create a more inclusive Phoenix where everyone has the chance to contribute and succeed. Keep up with AAED by following them on Instagram or Facebook!
